Invest in high quality baby gear

Why It’s Smart To Invest in Premium Baby Products

I’m talking about investing in high quality products made by brands that are renowned for quality and have great customer support.

When making an investment, don’t forget to factor in the resale value before you make a purchase. You may find that the net cost of an item is the same or even less than a cheaper product!

Here are some examples. You can easily validate these by searching secondary markets such as Facebook marketplace or eBay yourself.

Example 1: Brand new Doona for over 50% off

No products found.

The Doona is a car seat that has retractable legs that transforms into a stroller. It’s the perfect one piece travel system from newborn to 12+ months. Read an in depth review of the Doona car seat stroller here.

I purchased the Doona car seat stroller and accessories for a total of $635. I sold all of this 4 years later for $375. I could have sold it for more! I was inundated with inquiries as the Doona is a lot more popular now. But I wanted to free up space fast, to someone that seemed reliable.

This means it cost me a net total of $260 that’s over 50% off! That’s equivalent to ~$65 per year that I owned it.

We took this on multiple international trips and also used it day-to-day. We definitely got my moneys worth and then some.

Doona stroller listings on pre-loved baby gear store Goodbuygear sell for 25%-40% off the full retail price – an indicator of what the potential resale price would be

Example 2: Snoo bassinet for only $100

No products found.

The Snoo is a smart bassinet that automatically rocks your baby to sleep and plays white noise. Read my review of it here.

I purchased the Snoo during one of their sales for ~$900 and sold it 3-4 years later for $800.

It cost me a net total of ~$100! That’s cheaper than renting it. Even if I purchased it for the full price of $1295, I would have paid only a net total of $495. That’s over 50% off.

I do recommend purchasing it new, as you can fetch a higher price on the secondary market if you are the first and only owner of the item.

Alternatively, look out for sales from Happiest Baby, the official creators of the Snoo. They usually run sales each holiday!
